What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When you visit our website

When you visit our website, the browser used on your device automatically sends information to the server of our website. This information is temporarily stored in a so-called log file. This information like the IP address of the requesting computer will be collected and stored until automated deletion. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 (1) (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest follows from the data collection purposes listed above. In no case do we use the collected data for the purpose of drawing conclusions about you.

When you use our contact form

We offer you the opportunity to contact us via a form provided on the page Contact for queries of any kind. It is necessary to provide a valid e-mail address and your name so that we know who the request came from and can answer it. This data will be deleted after completion of the request made by you.

When you subscribe to our mailing list

If you have given your consent, we will use your e-mail address to send you our newsletter. For the receipt of the newsletter it is necessary to provide a valid email address and optionally your first and last name. It is possible to unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, for example via a link at the end of each newsletter. Alternatively, you can also send your unsubscribe request to contact@theionpublishing.com. We use Mailchimp as marketing automation platform to send our newsletter and recommend that you read their privacy policy.

When you register with our website (create a user account)

When registering for a user account, some personal information will be collected, such as name, billing and shipping address, contact and communication information such as your e-mail address. You can always access, change and delete this data via login in to your account. You have all the rights to this data detailed below (“What rights you have over your data”). A transfer of these data to third parties does not take place, unless you buy in our store (see below) or it is necessary for the prosecution of our claims or there is a legal obligation in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR. After cancellation of your user account, your data will be deleted, subject to a statutory retention obligation.

When you buy in our store

Our online store is provided by Woocommerce (privacy policy), integrated in our WordPress installation (privacy policy). As payment gateway we currently only use PayPal (which privacy policy applies depends on your locale). Your personal data like shipping address, email address and payment information if applicable is transferred to these data processors in so far as we need it to be processed for fulfilling your order in our shop and is subject to their privacy policies so we recommend that you read those. We will store your purchase data for a limited amount of time as required to process your order, for administrative purposes and as obliged by statutory retention.

Cookies

If you have an account and you log in to this site, it will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, there will also be set up several cookies to save your login information and/or screen display choices and/or user settings. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. This applies for example to using social media sharing buttons. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites and encourage you to read statements.

How long we retain your data

For users that register on our website or subscribe to our mailing list, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile indefinitely. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you in your user account (if registered with our website), your orders and your mailing list profile (if you subscribed). You can request that we correct, complete or erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. You can at any time withdraw consent for data processing that you gave previously and we will not process your data any longer based on that consent.
